I drive a 2013 Expedition EL w/HD Towing Package so I have the same max tow. I've spoken with multiple dealers and they have all said I would be comfortable going up to a dry weight of 6300lbs. We actually take delivery on Monday of a new 2017 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH, which is our first RV. I can't give you my personal experience of towing with it but I had my co-workers husband tow their camper with it to give me an idea of how it feels. They have a 28 foot Jayco with a dry weight of 5500 lbs. It's really loaded up and between 6500 and 7000 lbs now and he said it felt great with the expedition. In fact, their tow vehicle is an older F-150 with a max tow of 7700 lbs and he said the Expedition towed better.
One thing I've learned through my many months of searching is that you can't go off the manufacturers website for dry weight. They don't usually include the options so you need to look for the weight tag on the actual camper you look at.
I did a lot of research before we made our decision on how large of a camper we would go and you'll see some great reviews online of people towing with Expeditions.
Go to this link to give yourself a good idea of what people are pulling with Expeditions.

Thanks for the detailed and informative response.
It's really surprising how much some of these guys are towing.
I will let you know once I have personal experience towing the camper we get on Monday to give you a better idea of what to expect.
