Seems dumb they will not cover this. I don't know if this is actually a corrosion issue or a paint/primer problem. I had a 1989 Chevy S-10 I bought new when I got back from Germany. Within two years the paint began to peel from bad primer bonding. Chevy stepped up and repainted the entire truck for free since it was a common issue.
