Other web sites report that the failure rate of the HPFP is 6 in 10,000. If you’re one of the 6 that’s a big deal. If you’re one of the 9,994, not so much. I think what’s gotten all of the attention is that when it goes, the fuel pump usually takes out the whole fuel system to the tune of $9,000 – 11,000 and Ford is very resistant to warranty if there is a trace of water in it. I believe that 85% of folks having trouble post about it on line while 1% of those with no trouble brag about it on line. Our 2012 F-350 has been perfect in 33,000 mi. To help insure continued reliability, I use fuel conditioner lubricant in every tank of fuel.
