Really Troy? Care to post up a link to that data? You know, that one that shows over 50% had problems.

It was the diesel engine that put one big nasty stain on the diesel engine reputation in the US and was so bad that it still has left it's nasty mark with some avoiding GM diesel engines because of it.

100% correct. But most of the problems were caused by people turning up the pump much like the 6.0 problems that people put tuners on. :B
They were a great engine. How do I know? because I own several and never had any problems with them. :B

I remember hearing that the techs reporting that these engine would literally throw a rod just by the tech reving the engine during diagnostics.

I've worked on diesels for a long time and I can't think of a test where you have to rev a diesel so hard it will kick a rod. You're going to have to fill me in on that one?

And yes the vast majority (statistically speaking) is a good indicator of a engines reliability, durability, and performance.

I would say 9 out of 10 engines that are good is a vast majority. I still would not even consider buying a truck with such a rate.

Filter out the outliars from internet detractors like yourself, tuners/neglect

I'm not a detractor; I'm a realist. I call it like it is; good or bad. Ex: 7.3 Powerstroke GREAT engine. LBZ, GREAT engine. Ford V10, GREAT engine. 5.9 Cummins 04 on up, GREAT engine. Cummins 12V, GREAT engine.

The 6.0 JUNK. The 6.4 EXPENSIVE JUNK. The 5.7, JUNK. The 6.7 Powerstroke, a well designed engine with a so, so rep and a handful of fairly common problems that can get expensive.

And you can stop with the tuners and neglect. Ford or anybody else for that matter does not warrantee neglect or tuners. And Ford knew since the 6.4 came out when a tuner was used. A monkey could see it in the software. Anytime an engines blows up the download goes to FMC.

That's fine. But you need to tell all the mags that test these trucks they are all wrong because the last test I saw the D-Max beat the Powerstroke up the hill in the towing test and best it in the fuel mileage test. Maybe you have different standards? :B
