There are quite a few 2013's still available in state. Most are low optioned or maxed out Denali's. It would be nice to find one in between the two.

Well, I like the 3:73 ... always have. AND, the X-cab, which GM doesn't offer in the 2014 / 2500HD.

Hmmm - haven't looked around for a while. And, you're right, the ones left are way-up loaded, or nothing on it. That's why it's still sitting probably. I like 'less-equipped' but not totally bare-bones.

Kinda strange - a while ago, I was looking for 2013 and both dealers here said "NO 2013's available in Florida." SO, is this out of state?

You get 60% more wheel torque in first gear. You'll notice it when towing!



If you like your current truck, you'll love the new one! You'll have far more power accelerating, cruise in 5th gear at 2200rpm towing with seldom downshift to 4th and 3000rpm. Unloaded I have had as high as 17.7mpg hand calc over 1000 mile trip in our SUV form with cargo carrier on hitch and Rocketbox on top. 40k miles on ours in 27 months. And you'll love the larger fuel tank!

Does either truck have the 4.10 axle? GM rates the towing at significantly higher for the 4.10 over 3.73, far beyond the 10% gearing for GCWR. My personal opinion is that the 3.73 is underrated and 4.10 appropriate. Many people think the 9500ish pound tow rating of the HD is low when comparing to current half ton.s We both know that is half the story, but it is what it is.

There is a very noticeable difference from the 4 speed to the 6 speed version. I have owned both and love the new combo.

We had a 2004 3/4 ton Suburban with the 6L/3.73/4 speed combination. With the trailer in my signature, I had to tow in 3rd as the truck wouldn't maintain speed in 4th (OD) even on flat roads.

We now tow the same trailer with a 2011 1 ton Express that has the 6L/3.42/6 speed combination. I am very impressed and satisfied with this combination. With the performance of the old truck, I anticipated needing to tow in 4th gear based on the previous performance. Our first trip out on a two lane road at 55MPH I was towing in 5th gear and maintaining speed. I am even able to accelerate in 5th gear. On occasion, on the flattest of flat roads, it will even tow in 6th gear.

You will notice a big difference with the 6 speed. I don't know when they started putting the engine/transmission brake on the gas engines but that was a big improvement as well. The integrated brake controller and the camper style mirrors are two options I'll always have from here forward. I didn't think they would be a big deal but I really love them. My '04 was a left over and my current '11 was as well.

Be sure to ask if GM is kicking in any clearance cash for the 13's. They often do give the dealer some assistance on leftovers.

I have a 2012 HD2500 WT and with 4:10 gears. I really like the power of the 6 speed combined with the gearing pulling my 5ver. The built in brake controller works great too.

You will really appreciate the six speed when towing. It makes it much easier to find just the right gear for both power and economy.

I would want the locking rear differential known as the "G80" because that's the option code in the glove box.
That should be really nice truck. I understand finding the 2013 leftovers. I would also look for SRW 3500 trucks which are, admittedly, much harder to find. You gain rear spring capacity, wheel and tire capacity, and a higher GVWR.
