2013 Heartland Wilderness 2650BH - reasonable cash offer?

Max budget $20k CASH. NO financing option.

So I just sold our old TT. We want to upgrade to something New with a warranty and has bunks and large pop (sofa and dinette). We have been looking at Heartland Trail Runners and Coachmen Catalinas which are on the entry level but in our budget range.

Looking at La Mesa RV website they have left over 2013 Heartland Wilderness 2650BH that are on sale for $21998. I like that its a step up from the aforementioned models with aluminum framing, azdel walls, vaulted ceilings, and enclosed underbelly. Do you folks think its too far off to expect to get this unit for $20k CASH flat out the door?

    Just checked that local dealer again on the Wilderness 2650. They dropped the price to $19998 which is just about the same price as my qoute I got from RVW. Only difference is the local dealer is selling a 2013 and I think RVW would be selling a 2014. Not a big enough difference in price to drive the 35hours to Ohio. But not sure I would be satisfied with single bunks now.

    I have been taking everyones suggestions and looking into rvwholesalers website. Im actually now considering a small 5th wheel we saw at a local dealer Palomino Puma 259rbss which they has for just under $23k. RVW has qouted me $20k. However the 35 hour drive from California makes me nervous. Seems people either say great things about them or negative things. Curious is it a pretty painless transaction if I'm coming with cash. How are warranty issues handles? Scared of a bunch of red tape and what not to just fix minor things I would find in a shake down.

    RVWHolesalers.com and RVDirect.com has plenty of brands under 20k out the door.... Heartland, Gulf Stream, Forest River, and more. The price of nearly 22K you listed for that model is high - and 2014s have been out since May. Both dealers I listed have factory fresh 2014s that haven't sat as "lot queens" with every Tom, Dick, and Harry walking through it.

    I think you do better making offers face to face, or at minimum over the phone. It makes it more personal. It's a physiological thing, people have trouble saying no face to face. Of course, it can work on you as well if you are not prepared for it

    RV Wholesalers listed above was blowing out this exact trailer for well under $20K. I want to say he quoted me under $15K (they were putting $5000k discounts on them if you financed it for a year). To me that was a heck of a price for this trailer, but we decided to keep ours since our dealer fixed our slide issue.

    I think you do better making offers face to face, or at minimum over the phone. It makes it more personal. It's a physiological thing, people have trouble saying no face to face. Of course, it can work on you as well if you are not prepared for it

    That is correct. By the way Cash or finance won't matter...The dealer will make more if you have them finance it as they will get a percentage of the interest. Either way they get paid in full whether you hand them cash or the lender sends them a check. Buying with "cash" won't give you any additional leverage on the deal..
