2013 Ram 1500 Brake Controller

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. This truck does not have the integrated brake controller, so I figured I'd just use my existing Husky brake controller from my last truck. When I called the dealer today to see about a wiring harness, they told me it wasn't wired for a controller and I had to buy the integrated controller (for $350 installed). Anyone know about this? Anyone using an aftermarket controller in their Dodge Ram?

    Check out the tech section on etrailer.com. I believe the dealer is trying to sell you an overpriced option. Here is some info on the Ram:

    Provided you have access to:
    - 12V DC
    - Ground
    - signal from brake switch
    - wire to 7-pin for brakes

    I believe you can use any aftermarket electric brake controller.

    Wished I could help, I have the factory installed controller in my 13 Ram 1500. Mind if I ask what your towing plans are, we are in the process of purchasing a TT next year to take into retirement and are always interested in others expierences with the 13 Ram.
