If you have the factory hitch package you are limited because Ram forgot about the adaptor you would need :S What a big blunder for Ram, IMO. Good news is Anderson Hitch has a GN type raised hitch that works with the Reese Elite GN ball. B & W is currently working on their hitch that will fit the tow package with the Ram 3500.
If you don't get the tow package you will have no problems with standard above the bed rails.
I myself hate my rails and my next truck will not have them.
