If they did the wheel base would have to be about 175" or more. Pretty long for the shopping mall.
I am quite impressed at the new Ram. Now, if they just the Megacab with a regular bed instead of a short bed. - 4x4ordExplorer III

I guess since we will never hook up to 28000 lbs it really doesn't mean that much. Not needing anymore power to do what we need to do now. Most rv'rs are not that great of drivers . Not that rv's are the only use for a powerful truck .

When the truck is capable of handling its load it doesn't require any special skill to haul 28000 lbs down the road with a pick up. The other day I hooked my little Ford up to a 32000 lbs gooseneck and had my 19 year old daughter drive it. I told her "it's heavy, be careful" and away she went. I tried to follow her with the big truck but there was no way I could keep up to her. Later I asked her how it was to drive, she said " I just turned the corners a little wider and started slowing down a little sooner than I would with a car, but other than that it was no big deal." - larry_barnhartExplorerI guess since we will never hook up to 28000 lbs it really doesn't mean that much. Larry when was the last time Sam did a Dodge ( yes that long ago) ad? Unless that is his "deep voice" in the commercials :B
Troy I'm sure your 8 banger will be faster in a solo race, but hook up like 28k lbs up a 6% grade that 850 TQ will leave you in the dust. We'll know the hurt locker test soon enough. OBTW pickuptrucks.com won't even test the Ford or GM for that weight as they are not rated for it :B :B
Having said that, that goat better pull the hill better :W with the lesser GCWR of the competition.
Bottom line is my boat is faster by a wide margin :B
Agreed... I'm looking forward to the hurt locker test as well.- 45RicochetExplorerLarry when was the last time Sam did a Dodge ( yes that long ago) ad? Unless that is his "deep voice" in the commercials :B

I do notice the ovals and ties have been silent lately, well until Larry showed up :B Where are these guys :H They usuallly show in big numbers on a Ram thread.
I could share my experience with a '13 2500 RAM a few weeks ago to see who could get from a double lane to a single lane from a lighted intersection if that would make this thread more appropriate for you! :B- larry_barnhartExplorer

Might use the search feature for the J2807 elk. Been discussed many times here and all I can say is yes for unified standards, but in the real world it ain't going to happen without some kind of government mandate. Too many advertising dollars at stake.
Just wait, that same Ford 2014 MY will be rated to tow more than the Ram in the 2015 MY with very little changes.
I'm for something like J2807 for Joe Public, but I don't see anything other than Howie Long, and Michael Gregory "Mike" Rowe telling us what they are told to tell us, a line of BS.
maybe Sam Elliot should be included as long as you missed his name on purpose. You are welcome as I always try to help:B - 45RicochetExplorerMight use the search feature for the J2807 elk. There is the SAE J2807 process for testing and it was used by the people at mrtrailer.com in 2011 and by Car and Driver in 2012 (April issue reported results) and it covered actually hauling of very heavy loads up and down steep grades and accelleration and stopping distances and handling with these heavy loads.
Specs do not tell you how well a truck is going to handle with a 15,000 lb. trailer in tow going through the mountains or even in city traffic. It provides no information about how well the suspension, engine, exhaust brake, transmission, and electronics work together to manage heavy loads.
What is curious is that Ram upgraded the frame for the 2013 1-ton trucks but not the 3/4 ton trucks. When GM upgraded the frame and other components in 2011 they were applied to both 3/4 and 1-ton pickups. Ram and Ford seem to purposely emasculate the 3/4 ton trucks for reasons I cannot fathom. - HannibalExplorerIt's a beautiful thing! Who knows what might be in my future. Many gassers to choose from. One diesel.:B
