Iam paing 30.00 a month for on star, is on star turn by turn nav, the as built in gps? can i use gps with out on star?

Never pay for the On Star on our Chevy truck or GMC Envoy. I don't want to give GM (government motors) any more money than I need to.
We have a Garmin GPS for each of the vehicles. If we have an emergency we have our cell phone.
