Do you want USA or the REST of the world specs. USA is about HALF of the rest of the worlds tow specs for a Subaru.
Reality is, around 3-3500 would be about max WITH Trailer brakes on anything over 750-1000 lbs would be my limit. Along with something that is very aerodynamic.
For example, not that the OP is going to be this heavy....my hp needs when I pull at 15K, at 70sq ft of frontal area is around 105HP, push that to 90 sqft, and you need 135hp, same HP as a 25K rig at 70sqft! Frontal area and aerodynamics can change these HP amount plus/minus 30%. Op will be under 10K total lbs more than likely, so not a lot of hp is needed per say. BUT< the motor will need to run in the power band where the appropriate HP is being produced.
