Well, this weekend was the maiden voyage of our new TT, a 2013 Zinger ZT33BH. Overall I am happy with the purchase, but we have one outstanding issue that needs to be solved, one issue I'm confused...

Absolutely. My wife can get up there to make the bed, and sitting on her hands and knees her back does not touch the ceiling. It's cramped, for sure, but there's definitely enough room to sleep on one's side.
The bunks have a max weight rating of 250lbs, so your 150 pounder is well within that limit as well.
