I called Crossroads RV (The manufacturer) and asked them about the metal filings, as my dealer has seen them before but couldn't say for sure where they were from.
They tell me that they are from when they router out the openings through the tin siding. The filings literally go everywhere, and while they do have a "cleanup" crew, since there are so many and they go everywhere they sometimes get trapped in places and don't appear for a period of time. They said to expect to see more of them as we use the TT and eventually they will all settle out.
Sounds to me like a manufacturing issue that could be solved with a vacuum while doing that job maybe.
Either way, if you see these metal filings:

in your trailer this is the likely cause and there's generally no need to panic.
