Just purchased a new Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 and have only had 2 nights in it bringing it home, but can tell you from our '07 Rockwood Roo hybrid that little wood slivers, foam insulation in the A/C and lots of little misc screws are part of the deal....don't think they charge extra for that. When we bought the ROO in July '06 until this last trip in early May, we still find little wood slivers in the light fixtures, assume we'll have the same with the 2604. The camper vibrates and bumps in transit and these things come from where openings were cut for plumbing or wiring. Fully expect that the first time you use the A/C it will look like a snowfall. That will get better sooner than the wood slivers. Didn't have the metal issue.
The water shut off/cold turning on.....think it's part of the deal, too. In the ROO, I was the only one using it and just learned to turn the hand held faucet away from me for a couple of seconds and warm water returned. No idea why this happens, but it does. The new 2604 has a huge garden shower, so DH will not have to hike it to the shower house any longer. Think he used the one in the ROO twice. Should I tell him about the cold water thing or let him find out on his own, hmmmmmm.
The faucet leak....that should be a warranty issue, so contact your dealer. RV faucets are not known for being top of the line. We put a Pur faucet style water filter on the ROO and loved it. Planned to put one on the 2604 and find that the faucet has some sort of funny shaping which doesn't allow for the Pur to fit. We know somewhere down the road the OEM will go south and we'll just replace it with a nicer one from Lowe's or HD, just like on the ROO, and then we can have our filter back.
Screw tightening will be your hobby for a while. And you may need to do it from time to time. We've had a "screw tightening evening" and had every one of them secure and with the bouncing and vibrating, they still loosen. Keep a screwdriver handy. Think it's part of the RV thing.
Sounds like you're off to a good start. We don't camp on holidays, and have other things for next weekend, so our first real camping will be the 2nd week in June and we're just dying for it to get here. You'll get the hang of these quirky things and before long it won't be an annoyance. Things that are safety or warranty issues, such as slides or other, get on those PDQ. Happy Camping!!
No stranger to RV's, just never had a brand new one before that we had to learn it's personality. I'm hoping the metal filings are done with...my five month old spends a lot of time on the floor. We'll have to be careful.
The faucet was an easy fix, just a cross threaded fitting. I'd get warranty on it, but that means a trip to the dealer, and I'm set up for the season and have no interest tearing it all down just for that. I'm keeping an eye on it anyhow, and so far seems to be holding just fine.
The slide issue we're working through with the dealer as we speak. So far no resolution, but we haven't had a chance to try any of the suggestions yet.
