- Perrysburg_DodgExplorerOP, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but! When Ram went with an integrated turn and puddle lamp on the mirrors they really messed up IMO. I talked with an engineer and he got back with me today. He says that the only way to swap out the standard mirrors for tow mirrors is to change the mirror module also. The mirrors are around $800 plus the cost of the mirror modules. You should be able to find them in a junk yard for a lot lees then the dealer if you want to replace them.
Sorry for the bad news and piss poor dealer.

Do the stock mirrora work for towing a travel trailer or is that another add-on?
Thanks!
I think Ram has stuck with the flip up this year also, these work great for towing.
No problem using their stock mirrors for a travel trailer? I hate to buy the truck and try to replace electic (and heated) mirrors.
If it has the tow mirrors they will flip up. Look at the window sticker and on the right side under "OPTIONS" you will see "Tow Mirrors" if the truck was ordered with them.
If it was not ordered with them, find a new dealer. IMO any dealer that orders a HD truck without towing mirrors does not have a clue about trucks. With that said why would a manufacture even build a HD truck with standard mirrors in the first place? :h

Ran into this with my 2011 Ram 2500. I even complained to Ram that a 2500 HD with all the other towing options and no mirrors was a safety hazard. Basic answer was "it was optional and the original purchaser didn't get them...too bad."
I've even tried to buy them through the Ram dealer and was told that they can't find them for the 2011 even though they've been out for years. I'm towing a small TT and the stock mirrors work okay. I still want a little more mirror though...
Might want to take a look http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Mirrors/Ram/2500Truck/-/-/2011here
I added some newer style to my Excursion and the quality is very good. - trail-explorerExplorer

Does anyone know what the new mirrors for the Silverado HD's, coming 2015.5, look like?
Same as current mirrors - campiglooExplorerMy 2012 Ram came with snazzy looking chrome mirrors. I was not a happy camper when I got it home and discovered they would not fold out. The dealer was out of his mind expensive on replacement mirrors, so I bought aftermarket mirrors that fold, with all the remote features of the factory mirrors. Couldn't be happier with them, and did the switch myself. Saved about a grand doing it this way.
- Eng208ExplorerMine came without the tow mirrors. Has the brake controller but not the mirrors. I will have to add some eventually. K2 mirrors are just like OEM and I will replace them with those. Get the factory installed ones. Much cheaper and no need to worry about it then. I don't like the way they look, but they are functional.
- 3_acatExplorerHad them on my 2003 and would NOT want to be without them. They are on my new 2014 and the OEM brake controller. Have not towed yet as bought new truck as a Christmas gift to me :D. The one thing I don't like with the new tow mirrors is the convex part of the mirroe used to be in the upper one corner and now it's a long thin one. It's runs down the outside of the reg. mirror and this part is NOT remote!! I find it doen't let me see as much as the older style, but getting use to it. Will not be towing till sometime in late April or May or when ever this snow goes for good.
- akronharryExplorerIt's a no brainer.....get the towing mirrors when buying new. Big difference for towing.

Just make sure the truck you want has the OEM towing mirrors. They are like a $100 option, but far more to replace later. Not every HD truck has them as not every HD truck owner tows 8' wide trailers!
+1 get them as an option...much cheaper than trying to add them later. I'm towing a small TT and wish I had them. Could not imagine a larger TT or a 5'er without them. - bigorangeExplorer
