Decided from an earlier post to get rid of my 2005 F250 diesel 6.0,posted it on Craiglist yesterday morning and sold it the same day.Now for some decisions:Ram: 2014 2500 4dr 4WD Crew Cab 169 Tradesman 4 x4 ENGINE: 6.4L V8 MID DUTY 8cyl Gasoline engine.Drove one this afternoon because I never had. Not bad,Familiar with the F250 and that also drives nice.What are the pro's and cons of both? What would you buy? I am buying gas, not diesel and will be pulling a 26 foot trailer.

I am a Dodge / RAM guy, so that is what I would buy. That said, this is a great time to be in the market for a new truck. I really don't think you could go wrong with either.

Pretty similar trucks, so I think it is which one you like the best! Or is it which one the DW likes best! Chris

I like the Ford chassis and running gear way more than the Ram. But, my Ram's driver's seat was more comfortable after several hours on the road. After having surgery on my tail end two years ago, tail bone comfort trumps all else. Both are good trucks. Personal preference. The Ford will accept a double din stereo DVD unit. The Ram is proprietary.

I see the Ram recommends premium gasoline. It won't take regular?

Im a Ford guy but the HEMI 6.4 is pretty Sick so I'd get the RAM.

Buy the one you like it's your money. I'd take the RAM as it has more hp and tq, and has been more recently updated with new features and capability the Ford can't match. The Superduty gets an update in 2015 though.

You can download the manual from the ramtrucks.com website. I cut and pasted the following from page 568 of the 2014 manual.

3.6L/6.4L Engine

These engines are designed to meet all
emissions regulations and provide excellent
fuel economy and performance when
using high quality unleaded “regular”
gasoline having an octane rating of 87. The
use of premium gasoline is not recommended, as it will
not provide any benefit over regular gasoline in these
engines.

Cylinder deactivation
Recommended fuel: premium unleaded

Which part of "unless you can link the manufacturer's authored and approved information, it's all just hearsay" didn't you understand? Direct from page 568 (570 of 790) of the 2014 Ram 2500/3500 Owners manual:

"3.6L/6.4L Engine

These engines are designed to meet all emission regulations and provide excellent fuel economy and performance when using high quality unleaded "regular" gasoline having an octane rating of 87. The use of premium gasoline is not recommended, as it will not provide any benefit over regular gasoline in these engines."

Can we put this non-issue to rest now?

Interesting. I see your manual yet, the specifications on the dealer's site says the opposite. Looks like they use generic specs for all their 2500 trucks.
