2014 GM/Chevy 1500 Twins

Just saw an add on TV last night showing some 'best in class' towing numbers on the new '14 1500 twins of over 10k lbs that caught my attention. Does anyone know the 'real world' payload on these trucks? As some of you know I still haven't got a newer truck yet and have been dreaming of 20+ mpgs... Yes I know Fords are good with the HD payload package but just not a Ford fan (I do think they are nice trucks, just didn't 'feel' right when I drove them).. Sorry for the longer post but my question is if anyone has a '14 1500 GM 4x4 crew cab and what kind of real payloads they have... When is the 6.2 coming out or has it hit the dealers already? Thoughts?

    Check these numbers out ... just as "real world" as any.

    Sorry - guess I was hoping for some door stickers.. ;) I've found the numbers online but it seems they are usually 200-400 lower in person... But thanks!

    Door sticker numbers subtract the actual weight of options - but the advertising shows 'basic stripped model' - that's why you usually can't find it in person. No one buys the basic stripped versions.

    Yep - that was my point exactly... The brochures show over 2000 lbs payload (with the max trailering package - which doesn't seem available yet) and I was wondering if anyone had one of these yet and and what it really had.. :)

    So you really believe that your truck weighs exactly what the manufacturer states as a curb weight? Are you interested in some real estate perhaps? The OP is doing his due diligence and not relying on published data which has been found to be generic and has a variance depending on options.

    Looks like 1500 lbs or so is pretty common, certainly not the 2k+ I was hoping for... :(

    Still not sure how/why manufacturers keep upping the tow ratings and tow packages without the payload to back it up (besides Ford)...

    FYI - link shows 1751 lbs for the max tow (crew cab/std box/4wd) which is LESS than the 1883 lbs advertised with the 3.08 ratio... So in the above case - advertised is 300-400 lbs more than you will actually see. Figured...

    10K lbs is a looooot of weight. No matter what manufacturer says, I would not do it.
    I am not experienced with some heavy towing, the most I did was about 7k with a heavy duty dodge ram and hemi, that was just right combo, maybe a 1k more would still do.

    I can't picture my current Explorer that is rated at 7100 to tow anything more than 5k.
