How so? It does not take into account payload either.
True, doesn't factor in payload but at least it gives us somewhat of a level-field comparison tool.
Full disclosure, I'm more a RAWR & tire load guy than a GVW/payload guy.
I had a 2002 F250 7.3L with a 8800lb, meaning my "payload" was ~1400lb; I would not have hesitated to use it far beyond those numbers. That truck was as solid as a rock & IMO would've laughed at 2500lb in the bed. RAWR was 6100lb. In fact, the previous owner had it set up for a TC so it may have regularly seen 3500lb on the back for all I know.
