The truck in my signature tows a 10k gooseneck ranch trailers quiet often. We live out west and tow in the mountains and the truck handles the trailer very well. My brother and I have 4 other ¾t and 1t diesels available and I prefer the one in my signature.

APT - I thought I was on the chevy website yesterday but was unable to find that option &/or the 3.73 axle ratio.. I may have been blind however.. :) Do you happen to know the GVWR increase with this package?

I agree that a 3/4 ton and be done is probably easier and less to worry about - but I already have one and getting tired of my gas mileage.. ;) I do like the interior on the new GM's..

atvanish, take a look at the Order Guide. Click on Print Book, select Silverado 1500, then Print Model. It looks like it is not quite as good as GMT900, 7000->7200 so 200 pounds higher. I thought it was 7300 for GMT900 and NHT.

I'm guessing you're a diehard GM fan. No problem, but have you thought about ordering an HD F150 with the 8200# GVW? Seen lots of them with payloads in the 2-2300lb range.

Not really a diehard GM fan - Honestly I don't think it matters anymore as they all use the same parts from the same vendors with the same engineers.. All are good and have pro's/con's - so I buy for looks/features/price/capability.. I admit the Ford makes the most sense but I have some personal resentment towards them due to some previous issues (not fitting for discussion here - I'm sure I would get flamed) that I just can't overcome..

I thought it was 7000 pounds regular GVWR for 4WD, 7200 NHT 4WD.

Totally understandable. I was a Ford guy for ever. I deviated once with an 06 Nissan Frontier. Have now witched to Ram for some of the similar reasons I'm guessing. No regrets so far.

Attacking me when I posted some numbers for the OP to see. At the point at which I made my post no one knew how much the OP knew or what he was asking for. I simply pointed him to a GM site. Also consider this -- how many of us drive around with something in the back of the truck? What are the real world numbers then? Get my drift?

The man asked for "real world" numbers. In other words he wanted to know what these trucks actually weigh after they have left the factory and have been in use. Since you know EXACTLY what your truck weighs, you realize that the published data that you pointed him to does not equal the actual weight of your truck. Also for your information, I do know exactly what my truck weighs in a variety of situations and have weight tickets to prove it. The truck has been on CAT scales several times and probably crossed several other certified scales a dozen times hence my understanding of how real world numbers don't match the generic published data.

Stopped tonight - loaded gmc was 1595 lbs!! Very impressed with truck, looks & interior. Dealer said no 6.2l max tow till spring.. :( Decisions decisions. Lol

Very impressed too. I think the 6.2 will have pretty good mpg for that amount of power. I mean lots of ecoboost owners are saying they get 14-16 around town that's what the new 6.2 will get plus give you 450 ft pounds with no turbo !! I want one.
