This has been a very helpful thread.
I am about to pull the trigger on a RAM 3500. SRW crew, short box, 4x4...
Planning on the 6.4L and still need to decide on 3.73 vs 4.10 diff.
I will have a 3500 lb (loaded) slide in on it, not towing anything.
A couple questions for you 6.4L owners:
So did I hear right, that Tow/haul locks out 6th? ON edit - guess it does
Does tow haul lock out MDS? I don't know the answer to this one.
When running empty, around what speed does it shift to 6th? I test drove a 3.73 truck, but I can't recall at what speed it reached 6th.
For those that ordered, how long does it take before they give you a VIN#, and then how long for delivery?
I got a VIN in about a week, and my truck is due to arrive in a couple weeks. That will make the total wait from order to delivery right at 8 weeks (two months).
One more thing to note is that the tow rating and GCWR increase 3000# when you go from 3.73 to 4.10.
3.73 is roughly 12,500 - 13,000# max towing depending on cab configuation, 2wd, 4wd, etc., and 19,500# GCWR
4.10 is between 15,500 and 16,000# max towing and the GCWR is 22,500#
