This is true! My 2006 Dodge truck tripped the circuit when hooked up to a trailer with lots of running lights. My dealer reprogrammed the computer so it would trip at 12 amps instead of 7amps which is factory.
If you have 3rd gen Dodge truck, next time you are in the dealer, have them modify the trip load for running lights off the trailer plug so you aren't stranded without lights.
