2014 Ram back up camera

The 2014 Ram back up cameras are built in to the tailgate handle. Which doesn't help at all if you are removing the tailgate for your camper.

A quick look around on the Net did not reveal an aftermarket plug and play camera that will simply plug in to the existing Ram system, that can bolt elsewhere on the rear of truck when the camper would be in the bed.

What have you guys found? (Besides installing an entire new back up camera system).

Cheers

  • Did you ask the Ram dealer? It seems like removing the tailgate is a common enough event where they may have something they can install. If not, shame on them.
  • I've got the same problem, and unfortunately, no solution yet.

I did find an aftermarket camera w/30 feet of cord (unsure of exact length, but that sounds right) that would have plugged right into my previous vehicle (2011 Ford F350). Made for those like plow trucks, sand spreaders, which explains the extra length of cord.

What I don't know is if the plug on my Ram is the same as the plug on my previous Ford.

I'd surely furnish a link, but appears I have lost it.
