Nope, my 2008 Sport Trac V8 had IFS and IRS with coil springs and it had 1218 lbs (1288 lbs w/o 70# hard folding tonneau cover) of factory tread act sticker payload. The Chevy Avalanche as well as Suburban have coil springs with much higher payload.
In fact Rams axle/spring ratings are pretty high at 3900 lbs. So the limit on GVWR has to be braking, handling, chassis, or some other limitation.
