The truck has a 1608 lb payload according to the door sticker. Truck has the 5.3 6 speed auto and 3.42's. I plan on buying a airbag kit with onboard compressor. Think this trailer is to much for my truck? The only things that will be on my truck is me and a basically empty toolbox. Maybe 100lbs with a few tools. I weight 165. 26 gal fuel = 155-160 ish. I think I'm fine with trailer weight. Tounge weight is up there. But I am willing to relocate everything to the rear of the TT to keep the weight of the tounge during moves. Really comes down to your comfort level and experience. You will get responses all over the map with some saying your way over and others who tow twice as much with no problems at all. If you bought it already, or really want it, nothing said here will change it. Personal opinion having hauled less with the same, I don't think your going to have much fun traveling. If your not going to travel or move it only once in a while 50 miles you could live with it.One more thing, if you relocate everything to the rear to try and make the tounge weight less you could set yourself up for a very bad experiance. Lack of tounge weight is the leading cause of sway, poorly balanced rv, your truck will not hold that trailer back if it starts to go bad. Your better off trying a WD antisway system to help balance and if your putting in airbags it will look fine.

I'm fine with heavy weights. And it will get moved anywhere from 50-400 miles depending on where my next job is, every 3 months.

It might be OK for short local trips, but it is certainly a combination I wouldn't want to go very far with, especially in mountains or windy conditions.

It'll tow fine. Just don't go over 40. If it starts to wiggle on you, slow down a little more. If you get in a hurry, pull into a dealer and buy a bigger truck that's rated to tow that weight.

Anytime somebody says there planning on adding airbags, it just leads me into saying u need a bigger truck or smaller trailer. Now I don't know the exact weight that the camper is, so it may be within ur ratings. By know means am I against 1/2 tons actually pulling loads. But even like my 3/4 ton, they can run out of payload quickly. I have 2998 lbs of payload, but I am sure its less do all the******in my tool box and under the seats.

I have hauled mine 30-50 miles a couple times with a 5.3 6sp and 3.08, and a 4.3 6sp 3.42.

It worked. It was flat Michigan land. It did not feel like I was ever out of control. However, it was 55 mph.

Friends of ours haul a 2010 Lacrosse 303RKS trailer- (34 feet- 7200 Lbs dry) with a 2010 Ford 150 1/2 ton truck with no problems. They haul it all over the States.....

You cannot just move weight to rear of a TT to decrease TW. TTs become very unstable near 10%. Most people towing them are in the 12-15% range because it is more comfortable.

If you are living in the RV for months at a time, you will have more than the average 1000 pounds of camping gear with you. 6k dry for half ton or step up to HD truck.

8000# dry/empty, 9500# GVWR.

That'll be a pretty big load for a 5.3L and 3.42s.

You are in 3/4 ton territory with that trailer. I am a HUGE half ton fan but that means matching a trailer to the capabilities of the half ton.

Typically that means understanding that the TONGUE WEIGHT is your limiting factor. The truck will pull a lot more than it will carry.
