Payload sucks? Should be up 250 pounds over a comparably equipped 2013. 2014 went on a diet. GM/Ford half tons already had the best payloads for crew cab trucks.
The 2014 5.3L puts out nearly identical power to my 6.0L, very comparable to Ford's 5.0L with better fuel economy and in a pushrod design!
The highest payload is 2007lbs (5.3L short box crew 2wd, and I'm sure that's the WT, not a decently equipped truck, FYI, the longer wheelbase doesn't get higher capacity like ford). Comparable ford =1925#, BUT, with the HD package 6.5ft box bumps to 2325# (ford 1947#). That's a 20% difference.
Not to mention the higher payloads for the reg cab/supercab. I'm hoping GM comes out with a higher payload crew/6.5ftbox/4x4 (you know.. Similar to what I have now), but I doubt it will happen.
Everybody knows that todays trucks are leaps and bounds more powerful than trucks of yesteryear.. That doesnt mean the rest of the truck can handle it.
