It's really funny how haters don't do their homework! GM has had a max tow option with a higher payload for years. A larger crew cab??? What's that even mean? Keep on hatin'! Lol

Come on, I'm glad GM finally updated their smaller crew cab. Ford updated theirs in 2009 and made it bigger. Dodge updated their in 2009, and if I remember correctly, Toyota updated their crew cab in 2007. It's time GM stepped up the size of their crew cab.

While GM had their 6.2L max tow package option, it barely raised the payload. Now in 2014 they have updated their payload to equal Ford's higher payload. That's a good thing.

While I admit I'd never allow a GM to park in my driveway, I'm glad they have stepped up to the plate offering more than Dodge and Toyota in terms of payload, with now a drivetrain and crew cab size that's respectable.

As I said, this is a good thing. Competition is a very good thing and now that the playing field is now getting level, it's time to push it even more!

I just don't think it's right to start chest thumping over what other makers have been doing for years. I do think they should be acknowledged for updating their truck with great features, great capability, and a great drivetrain.

Now if you want to talk about a truck that has never been updated, that's the Nissan Titan. The body and drivetrain hasn't changed since my previous 2004 XE Crew Cab 4WD Off Road truck.

all you ford lovers drive a new GM truck and you will be tempted!! oh don't bother they already have a huge fan base that keep coming back. But you never know if u drive one and fall in love with it !! thanks for the positive feedback I am so sick of the bashing due to a bankruptcy that happened 6 years ago. Get over it already !!!!!

GM finally is catching up to Ford 3 years later which is a good thing for competition even if I'll never allow a GM to park on my property. ;)

Competition is good and previously, GM was not competitive.

It's really funny, every feature Ford came out in 2011, GM is now coming out with. That being the higher payload towing option, electric power steering, a small displacement V8 that offers a lot of power, the larger crew cab, and even a 6.5' bed on a crew cab. I just don't like direct injection they are using as those engines have shown to foul up from carbon. As with Ford's 3.5L Twin Turbo direct injection V6 (Ecoboost), we'll just have to wait and see how problematic this will turn out.

As with Ford 5.0L, it looks like the Ecotek 5.3L will be the engine to get. Great fuel economy and power.

As far as better fuel economy than Ford, I wouldn't hold my breath. It's good but not better. See pickuptrucks.com head to head review. It's better than the Ecoboost while towing but so is the 5.0L, but it's worse than the Ecoboost when empty, where the 5.0L can equal it. I'd say it's about a wash so I wouldn't let that make a decision. Besides it's done with the inferior 3.42 axle. Since GM and Ford use essentially the same gearing in their transmission, this axle gearing is just very low next to Ford's 3.73 axle. Right now GM is NOT offering their 3.73 axle as you can't build the truck with a 3.73 axle on their site.

I consider the Ford and GM to be roughly the same now in features, capability, and power.

I just wish Ram would offer better payload. Now with a transmission that can actually use the power of their Hemi, I'd finally consider their truck on power but not on payload capability.

Base LT? That's a mid-trim truck. But good to hear! Lots of people favor the GM seats in the GMT900s.

Sat in a couple of the new Chevys yesterday. I really liked what I saw. Everything was within easy reach, good visibility, comfortable seats, even on the base LT truck..... The LTZ was even more refined.

Almost looks like a Ford coming at ya. Thank gawd they didnt copy the Fords Transformer dash. Honey comb vents, UGLY. Rode in one the other day and I kept waiting for it to unfold and rip my throat out!

My local Chevy dealer got their first 2014 Silverado this morning. I am impressed. After looking at the pictures I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but after seeing it in person it is much better looking than what the pictures showed.
