- larry_barnhartExplorerI have always like the GM trucks because of their better steering going down the road. The only dodge we have had was a 2wd and it drove just fine if I didn't need to stop very quickly.
chevman - wintersunExplorer III bet 9 out of 10 people buy a 1-ton based on being loyal to Chevy or Ram/Dodge or Ford or because of creature comforts in the cab layout. These tests are only a way for some people to feel vindicated with what they bought and for others to dig in their heels and defend having bought something else.
For towing I care mostly about the ride and handling/safety, and how well the engine, trans, exhaust brake with diesel, all work together along with the trailer's brakes going down steep grades. I may spend a small percentage of my time going down steep grades with a load but when I do I am very grateful for the capabilities of my truck's very well integrated system for controlling the speed with minimal braking required. - N-TroubleExplorerIf there is one thing you can learn from these tests is that manufacturer rated output numbers are meaningless when it comes to real world towing. They're just paper figures and that's all.

Two things I don't like about the Ram, 32 gallon fuel tank and DEF consumption.
I agree on the 32 gal part. Not big enough of a deal to change. Just need fuel 30 miles sooner than I already do.
Rear axles may be the same but transmission ratios are different and how about diameter of tires? - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerWhat's amazing is the fuel savings the GM can pull off at that power level.
10% towing is HUGE!
If one full times and drives 25K a year and picks GM over the Ford at $4 bucks a gallon (My price for diesel where I live) one could save over $1,500 bucks a year!
Or
over 6 grand in savings over 4 years! :E
6 grand in savings in 4 years & having the best pickup in class. Sounds like a win, win, win to me! :) - Fast_MoparExplorer

If you consider the loads these trucks were hauling and then apply the results of the entire test to the real world and how most people drive...take you're pick - performance wise you've pretty much got a tie. Subjectively people are going to like certain things or dislike certain things and decide which is their favorite, but in terms of towing performance, nobody rational is going to choose one over another because it goes 59 up a hill instead of 56, or it required two taps on the brakes instead of four with the exhaust brake engaged. Or that's my take anyway.
Agree. They are all excellent choices. - 2500HDeeExplorer

This is spot on. People are always going to bench race or bench tow in this case on the internet but the reality is that there is no bad choice these days.
I am actually amazed how even they are, they obviously benchmark the heck out of each other. - gmcsmokeExplorerlol at the upcoming butthurt.

- mich800ExplorerLooks like a statistical dead heat in many categories. I think there may be some conflicted people on here reading the end results. Ram got the highest we just like it more score pushing them to 2nd overall from a source that was claimed to be pro Ford.
