The way I look at it is I travel all over the US every year.I get to 60 or 65 lock my cruise and hang on. I am retired an if it takes 1 second longer who cares. I also drive for 4 to 10 hours straight. I want to get out of the cab a feel good. This i can do with the best interior package GM has, the leather seats and the great sound system coupled with the best protection package to watch over me.
The transmission coupled with the air brake coupled with the anti sway the controls the back wheels coupled with the downhill management system are all unsurpassed. My 08' liked the Rockies I expect this one to love them.
My only ***** is the location of the DEF but then I think you only need to deal with that every few thousands miles. The location under the hood sucks but I am 6' 4" and even with the 20" wheels I can do it, if you are 5' 7" you may need the 18" wheels or a step stool. I also will fill at truck stops to minimize any spillage.
Mo 08' had every bell and whistle the new one has everything also less the useless 1000 dollar moon roof. I can say the new one is way,way better than the old one.
I have the same past 2 truck history as you. My 08 was flawless from day one, I am sure this new truck will be great as well.
