Sounds like a loose clamp on the PDF. Not uncommon on new Duramax. Had it happen on my 2015 Denali HD 3500 D/A at 450 miles. When it goes into the regen mode, it smells like diesel, you may have smoke out the passenger side wheel, etc. A major nuisance, but not a major problem typically. Requires dealer to realign exhaust and install new clamp. As soon as the regen finish's, it typically stops until the next regen. Look it us on the GM Duramax forum using the search. No reason not to drive it. Not saying it's acceptable, just trying to give you a heads up that it may be something fairly minor and easily corrected by the dealer.
