x2 on dropping tire pressure. On my F250 diesel unloaded I run 42 in the rear, 48 in the front. Tires seem to wear evenly. I air up when towing the trailer or hauling heavy load. I do not air up towing the boat as it is a very short trip to the ramp and the lower pressure gives better traction pulling out of the water on the steep ramp. Pumped up to 75 psi with the Jayco on the back, and I know it quickly if I forget to air down, beats me to death over every hole.
X2, I took my 2015 GMC over the scale full of fuel and the fifth wheel hitch in the box. Front was 4730 lbs and the rear was 3520 lbs. So, front tires carry about 2365 lbs each and the rears are 1760 lbs each. The inflation chart I use shows 50psi for 2405 lbs and the rears at 35psi for 1830 lbs. I run 47 to 48 in the fronts and 40 in the rear. Once loaded up I set the tire pressures as required. I have done this for the past 12 years with zero issues, tires ware even and doesn't beat the heck out of me and the truck. Makes a huge difference!
