I wouldn't stress too much about F350 vs F450. The F350 DRW 4x4 with the payload package has the same GVWR as the 450, and for some strange reason the RGAWR is 550 pounds higher on the 350. According to Ford's website brakes are the same size across all Super Duty pickups. The F450 does have a wider track front end and the 19.5" commercial tires and wheels and a considerably higher GCWR. I'm guessing the derated GVWR on the 450 has something to do Ford wanting it to still be considered light duty instead of medium duty in the DOT truck classifications.
Yeah, it sounds like the F350 with the max tow package is pretty similar to the F450. That's definitely a heavy 5th wheel so I was thinking for not much different in the price might as well get the F450. But, if there's not any around I guess it's not an option. I wasn't looking at F450's at all, my truck just happened to arrive and the sales guy called me because it was exactly what I was looking for as far as interior, color, and most all the options.
I have been told ( by my dealer and others) the brakes are a little bigger on the F450 but I'm not 100% sure. In years past the rotors were bigger I think but I haven't confirmed it on the 2015. I found the most of the salesman I dealt with were pretty clueless on the Super Duty trucks and several flat out lied trying to make a sale.
