If you are thinking of a F450 is it for towing an RV? I believe the F350 dually is much bettered suited for large RV use than a F450 is.
What you believe is hardly relevant. The F-450 comes in two very different versions, the pickup model and the chassis cab model. The F-450 pickup is nearly identical to the F-350 pickup except that the F-350 has a greater payload capacity and the F-450 pickup has a greater tow load capacity. The F-450 comes with 4.33 gears and this accounts for most of the difference.
The F-450 chassis cab has a different and stronger frame and front suspension than the F-350/F-450 pickup trucks. It gains some 3,000 pounds in payload capacity as a result of these differences. It puts it into the F-550 class.
Ford is different in that it produces 3 classes of trucks the F-250 pickup, the F-350/F-450 pickup, and the F-450/F-550 chassis cab trucks. If you look at towing and payload capacity data from Ford you will see that Ford also groups them separately. With GM and Ram the 2500 and 3500 trucks are much more similar if not virtually identical.
