Ride and empty handling are other benefits. The F150 definitely has better road holding than the 3/4-ton pickups. Also it stops quicker.
I don't know that braking performance is significantly better, or any better for that matter. I'll grant you that half tons probably exhibit more grip on a skid pad but I don't know that that means much in the real world. The stiffer ride if preferable to me.
