I would definitely try to get to the corporate level for a goodwill warranty. My BIL had the same thing happen with his and was able to get them to cover it. He had to go through a few layers of people before he got someone with the authority to approve it and who would.

Good luck with it. If you can't get them to cover it, I'd at least check with your insurance to see if there is anything they can do.
