2015 Ram 3500 DRW factory Air Bag Suspension??

Would this be a good thing to have or a negative with a TC? Anyone with real life experience with this and a 5000 pound TC? It is "auto leveling", is there a way to over ride the "auto" control?

  • sounds like the 2500 switched to coil springs (like the 1500) but they replace the coil with an air bag in this option. The air bag also has auto level control.

on the 3500 they retain the leaf spring, but add an airbag with auto level.
it is an option as my 3500 I bought 5 days ago has the leaf springs with helper springs on top.

  • One of the high end trick like campers built on a F550 by Earthromer uses air bag only suspension, so my guess is it should be good.
  • I am not familiar with Dodge, so please explain more?
I've been dealing with air bags helpers for over 20 years, what with big vehicle fleet gave me lot of experience.
That said, when I bough my present F350 dually, I had old air bags and was ready to install them just in case.
Since I already have beefed up suspension for utility body, I had no good mount for it and with my 4200 lb dry camper, I don't really need it.
  • This is a very interesting question. I will be watching the responses. I haul a truck camper and if in auto leveling mode I can see where it could be a problem. To squishy if you don't utilize your overloads because of auto leveling. On the other hand maybe they have it dialed in and would work perfectly. Interesting.
