Well I couldn't help it any longer after test driving a Ram a few weeks ago. Traded the 12 F-250 Gasser with the 6.2 in for the Ram 3500 CC 4x4 with the 6.7 Cummins. The Ford was a fine truck that did everything I asked of it. I just could not get used to a HD gas truck after having diesel the last 12 years. I tried, I really tried.
Welcome to the growing group of Tradesman trim owners. My previous truck was a Ford XL trim, so I am a believer you can get great value in these trucks without all the bells and whistles yet still get a comfortable cabin.
I had the reverse experience that you did concerning dealers. In 2005 and 2015, I had a hard time getting a local Dodge/Ram dealer's attention to sell me a truck, yet the Ford dealers were very responsive. Dealing with an out of state Ram dealer (Dave Smith in Idaho) this time made the difference.
When I was ready to upgrade my previous diesel to a larger truck, I was seriously looking at the new gasoline models that had outputs close to my previous diesel engine. I had concerns about the current emissions equipment and the additional cost, but realized that making the wrong choice would cost me more in the end. I also remembered how much I missed my diesel in the 80's when I went to a gasoline powered truck and how happy I was to get back into a diesel in 2005. I have to say I am diesel biased and even converted my DW into a diesel driver with her VW (pre emission scandal era) that continues to purr along as she likes to describe it.
