DEF is not a big deal. My 2003 and my 2012 did not have it. My 2014 does. According to what I read fuel mileage should improve. Now that being said. I filled my DEF on a 2k trip up to Virginia and NC so I had some hills to climb. I am towing heavy see my sig and I was running a little faster then normal due to some reservations. Have you driven a 5500 yet. They ride a little stiffer.
