Hello Jack, Diane
I see that we are practically neighbours Milton-Burlington, ON.
Wonder if you could give me your opinion? We are just about ready to factory order our first Ford F-250 6.2L gasser and as such I am debating between the 4.3 and 3.7 rear end ratio.
Our 5th wheel comes in at about 9,000lbs; yearly travel about 7 to 10,000 klm mostly eastern seaboard taking us through the Appalachian, Allegheny Mountains, Blue Ridge area and the flats of the southern states. This will be our retirement tow vehicle with plans of upgrading our 5th wheel in a few years. The TV will be solely dedicated to towing as I have a 1988 Jeep which I use for daily in town running around.
I look forward to your opinion as you have experience with both 4.3/3.7 ratios.
Regards,
Guy
Guy, hope you don't mind me chiming in on this, since I have a 6.2 F250, and I spend time on the ford-trucks forum as well. If you're going to order your truck, and pull a 5er, I would second the recomendation for the F350, and definately get the 4:30 gears. Your 9,000 lb 5er will turn into over 10,000 real easy after you load it up. The gasser will do fine if you understand how gassers pull (High RPM's on the hills), and are OK with that. Good luck and keep us posted on the new truck, I love mine.
