2015/2016 Ram owners

Two questions:

How is the rear coils working for you with a TC?

Say...a person with a superhitch and front frame brackets, from a 2007 wanted to transfer to a new truck...will they fit?

I might need a new truck. Maybe. So Ram has the nod right now but if I had to buy new superhitch and brackets...I'd look at Ford too. Thanks all.

  • You've convinced me that you should buy a new truck! I'm looking at about the same setup. I'm going to put deposit down on a WC 840 for a short bed in Feb. and at this point I like the '16 Dodge 3500.
  • Yes, I just did the same thing. Sold back my 2011 3500 DRW Long Horn for 45k. This was 4k less than I paid for it 4.5 years and 42k miles ago. Ordered a new Limited with all the bells and whistles.
  • So I give up my Megacab and Laramire package with the truck posted above.

I still get a full crew cab amd it is an SLT so middle of the road options.

I gain a full 7 year/100k warranty. My current truck is 375hp/650tq on my tow setting. New one is close, 370/800..so should feel more there.

Will have my 19.5's on the new one too. So...with the buy back going on....my payment doesn't change and i get a near new truck with full warranty. Had another issue pop up so just wrapping my head around this as it almost makes good sense...this current truck will have cost me literally nothing to own for 3 years...the value is there. New truck I'd be ahead of the game amd it would be paid for and not the miles on my current truck.

Am I just justifying a new truck or does that make sense?

If you are looking to get a new truck why would you get another 2500 and not go to the 3500? How overweight are you now with the 2500 you have? The payload and GVWR on the newer 2500 did not increase like the 3500 did.

    Don't care about the numbers.

3500's are not easy to find in this state. My only concern right now is how the coils handle the load. Now if I find a 3500 that is certified...I'd buy it. I have a new shortbed camper...so longbeds don't interest me either. If the coils aren't working out with TC's...I'll move on to a 3500 only search. But again...I don't care about the numbers...as my current truck handles my TC and trailer just fine...I have no doubt the new gen truck with better brakes, frame and suspension (if the coils are working out good) should handle it better. Numbers don't matter...to me.

  • Good to know, I could deal with the fronts being different.

New 2500's have rear coils...not sure how I feel about that. Now...Typically I'd just say...meh...and go 3500 and brand new. Found a "steal of a deal" on a certified used '15 2500...saves 10k over new with only 12k miles...BUT...rear coils. Nice that the CPO has a 100k warranty...and the new '16's have a factory 60k powertrain (wtf RAM....really?).
  • I had a 2006 SRW 3500 and moved to a 2015 3500 dually
    Both have rear leaf springs.

rear torklift frame mounts changed over but front are different.
