2016 CTD, cant' get oil filter out!

NO spill system and easy to install with filter pre filled as recommended.

I asked my dealer, they don't prefill the filters. They say #1 risk of contamination by prefilling (because oil down the middle isn't filtered) and #2 because its a pain in the neck.

They are the ones that would have to do warranty work on my truck and they charge me about the same price it would cost to do myself ($65). I'm fine with them assuming any potential risk for not prefilling the filter.

When I fired the CTD up after the oil and filter change, the oil pressure shot up immediately with no delay. Prefilling won't hurt as other say but it's not necessary IMO.

It IS recommended but you sure don't have to if u don't want to. I have prefiled every filter possible for WELL over 1 million miles driven. Can I prove it helped ? NO!

I do it when I can because it sure does not hurt if everything is clean.

You are aware there's two different methods of plumbing from the factory do you?

No I didn`t know this. My truck looks like the top photo and it`s still not easy to pull the filter out.

I wasn't aware of the 2 different means of routing the hoses. Mine is like the lower photo which I think makes for a tighter "window" to pull the filter out and contributed to my problem. Top photo looks like it gives you much more room to get the filter out.

I did , and do. The Genos cap makes it no issue to get in place. Raising it up ,and screwing it in is to me a lot easier then leaning down over the fender ,and trying to keep everything straight to get started on the threads. Just another reason why I went to the fender well, among others already mentioned.

You belong to the turbo intake removal crowd, thats never went thru the fender, do you really have a valid reason to question going thru the fender well. :h

I have no problem which way you change the filter, my issue is your disagreement on the way someone else does, yet have never gone that way.

Don't know how easy the top photo is, but mine is the bottom photo, and again it comes out of there with no problems. Actually now with the Genos cap screwed on, and the metal ring thats screwed into the top of the cap its a breeze just pulling the filter out putting a finger thru the ring, and pulling out the filter.

You may want to get that Genos cap, it makes for an easy filter change. As said in previous post I have gone the way of removing the turbo intake, IMO thats nonsense, especially since there is an alternative.

Personal preference I guess on which way you change the filter. As they say everyone has one, opinion that is . :)

There is no wrong way here, just don't like removing that turbo intake.
