2016 Ford Superduty - Aluminium

LINK
Looks like it will follow in the F150's foot steps. Only makes sense.

i'm still asking for a 3.5 Ecoboost option in the super duty. I'd be completely happy with that for my next SD, even more if the truck looses 300-500 lbs.

    This would be awesome...

  • Looks like they are going all in. The weight savings they will get that will lead to better payload and MPG could very well be a game changer.

I saw a story that was guessing most trucks will be Aluminum intensive by 2024.

Makes sense to make trucks alum first, because they are high profit, so there is more wiggle room on material/production costs, and the potential CAFE advantage for manufacturers is obvious.

I'm guessing GM and RAM won't be far behind at all.
  • Every pound saved in the body adds a pound in payload, with the same suspension.
  • Weight and MPG are probably not as important on superdutys but if they can improve it while staying competitive on price they will definitely do it.
What I am surprised of os that they use the heavy 6.2L engine on the raptor when they could use a much lighter engine with turbos.
