I have no idea if the Ford "explosion" was caused by aluminum or not. I do know that if my truck catches on fire I want it to completely burn up and an explosion is an added bonus so long as no one is hurt.
Like Ford, I don't want to take the chance my insurance company might try to have it fixed. Its harder to find all of the parts after an explosion. :)
