I think you are wrong, but I hope you are right. I read the article mentioned above and it was interesting. This diesel will be a "light weight" diesel... but it is still going to be substantially heavier than the current gas engines in the Toyota and Nissan. I'm not sure on the numbers... but even a couple hundred pounds is HUGE if they don't increase their payload numbers.
My next truck is going to need at least 2000 lbs of realistic payload on a truck with some options. With a growing family and eventually a bigger and heavier trailer the current 1600 lbs payload of my 2010 Tundra won't cut it in another 5 years or so.
