The Tundra 5.7L already has the same HP and torque of the Ford Super Duty 6.2L. The only reason it doesn't have the same tow capacity of the Ford is the suspension. I had one and it pulled my 8K lb trailer just fine, but I wanted more payload. Tundra had 7 years to come up with a truck to compete with Ford and GM and they fell woefully short of the mark. They seem to be happy in the 1/2 ton market and i'm happy with my F250, so it's all good. I loved my Tundra, it was a great truck, but they lost me even if they build a HD truck. I didn't wait for them then and I won't wait for them now.
They do seem to be targeting a different audience. You don't know how bad I wanted to buy an American union built hybrid but the big three don't seem to be Focused on the hybrid market like Toyota. The Prius sets the benchmark for hybrids. Ford, Chrysler and GM set the mark for serious pickups. I'm happy with both of mine.
