Anybody paying these prices for a half ton needs to have their head checked. You can get a big diesel for less...WAY more truck for the money.
For people that spend a LOT of time in their trucks, they want more creature comforts. For people that expect a higher level trim, they want fancy leather and gadgets.
For people like you and me, we are more concerned with function over form. I have a bottom of the line Ram with the big engine and few other "upgrades". I don't have a need for fancy pants stuff, so I don't pay for it. My friend is one of those guys that needs the stuff... he paid substantially more for a 6.4 Hemi loaded out Ram then I paid for my diesel Ram. To each their own.
I KNOW there are people out there buying these loaded out expensive trucks because I see them quite often in the campgrounds. Those are people that are willing to pay these prices because they prefer the bling over the larger engine or heavier powertrain. That is their money and their decision.
Good for them that they can afford to pay for these trucks. Good for manufacturers giving them what they want. They look at me with a bare bones truck with the same quizzical look that I give them with their loaded out trucks. To each their own.
I think Ford is doing a GREAT job with these engines. They are filling a market of drivers who need to carry a heavier load on rare occasion, but want decent mileage when they aren't towing and plenty of power when they are towing. This truck has done a great job compromising those needs. - SoCalDesertRid1Explorer II

For $64,000, I expect to be able to buy two half-tons, not one...Fordlover wrote:

People love buying their status indicators. Never mind you can buy the 1/2 ton with the same capabilities for 45K. But if you need steps that fold up and a seat that massages your rear, it is available but you gotta pay the man.SoCalDesertRider wrote:

Great engine.
Too many gears for a pickup.
$65,000!!!!!!!! Holy Carp!!!!!
I can't even stomach that much for a new loaded to the nines HD diesel and yet they can sell half tons for that much?
I must be fell asleep one too many times in marketing class. Particularly during the sell ice to an Eskimo lecture!
It is amazing that you can buy a diesel 4x4 crew cab F550 for $20,000 less than an F150! - IdaDExplorer

Equally loaded up lariat to the Laramie was 6k more. But it didn't have the diesel, air suspension and at that time the 8 speed. Add what fuel savings are over 120k miles and the decision was easy. Ford will get hammered over time if they hold to such high Pricing.

Pretty impressive, definitely a top notch gas powertrain.
