I just traded off my 11 duramax for 17 6.0 3500 silverado. It does a great job with my TC and towing a boat. But all together only about 8k in payload and tow. I use the tow haul and cruise and the tranny handles the shifting quite nicely. It definitely is entirely different from towing with the duramax. But it gets the job done just with higher rpms a lot more shifting and fewer miles per gallon. i get just under 9 miles per gallon doing 60 mph on rolling hills. Close to 11 with just the TC. Only about 13 to 14 cruising empty on the hwy. Towing as heavy as you plan I imagine you will have fond memories of your duramax. All that being said the 6.0 does just fine especially for my purposes and I like the simplicity of the gas motor over the extremely complicated diesel trucks now. I have probably owned a dozen new trucks over the years. The last three were diesels before this 6.0. All of my gas trucks were virtually trouble free during ownership. All three diesels were not. Love that diesel power the issues here and there not so much. Enjoy your new GASSER!! I have mine.
