I have a 2015 2500HD with the 6.0 gasser. It has a love affair with gas stations. Got a whopping 6.7 MPG on average on our last trip. Have never seen the 8-10 MPG others claim to get while towing. I get anywhere from 9.3-9.7 MPG with nothing in tow! The Tow/Haul mode isn't all that wonderful either. Plenty of times, it's failed to downshift the engine after cresting a hill. Sometimes I'm a third of the way down the other side of the hill and the engine has failed to downshift and is still screaming. I've had a couple of instances when the LCD display didn't work and had a black screen so I had to adjust radio volume etc. from the steering wheel controls until I could stop, turn the truck off and then re-start it. Also the backup camera hasn't engaged the LCD screen a few times and I've had to put the truck in Park and then back into reverse to get it to work but other than that it has been an OK vehicle. Of Course, when brought in to have these issues checked out, nothing wrong can be found. In the end, it's an OK vehicle but nothing to write home about.
Your truck should do a lot better than that. What are you towing? How fast are you towing? Just curious. - Dave_H_MExplorer II

You can change the gas tank out to a larger aftermarket one or run an aux and not tell anyone on this board. - RobWNYExplorerI have a 2015 2500HD with the 6.0 gasser. - dave17352ExplorerI just traded off my 11 duramax for 17 6.0 3500 silverado. It does a great job with my TC and towing a boat. But all together only about 8k in payload and tow. I use the tow haul and cruise and the tranny handles the shifting quite nicely. It definitely is entirely different from towing with the duramax. But it gets the job done just with higher rpms a lot more shifting and fewer miles per gallon. i get just under 9 miles per gallon doing 60 mph on rolling hills. Close to 11 with just the TC. Only about 13 to 14 cruising empty on the hwy. Towing as heavy as you plan I imagine you will have fond memories of your duramax. All that being said the 6.0 does just fine especially for my purposes and I like the simplicity of the gas motor over the extremely complicated diesel trucks now. I have probably owned a dozen new trucks over the years. The last three were diesels before this 6.0. All of my gas trucks were virtually trouble free during ownership. All three diesels were not. Love that diesel power the issues here and there not so much. Enjoy your new GASSER!! I have mine.

Wow...with that much weight that 6.0 gasser is gonna be sssssssslllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww going on climbs.
Yes I know, I have an '07 duramax now that does a great job BUT shes 11 years old with 200,000 miles. My '06 duramax with 208,000 just blew a head gasket, I don't want that to happen while on a trip. I'll just have to put my 4-ways on up hill
The 6.0 can get the job done but it will be at its limits.Coming from a Duramax you will need a serious attitude adjustment to be satisfied.
It would be very difficult for me to tow that load with a gasser and be satisfied. - kw_00Explorer

Lol you won't need your flashers for the hills. Truck will pull the hills just fine. Use tow haul and don't be afraid to let it rev, I also like using the toggle switch and shift down prior the hill. Anyway the 6.0 is hard to beat. Enjoy your truck! - dawzieExplorer

Consider Timbrens instead of air bags.
At work there are days I tow heavy bumper pull trailers and being able to adjust the air pressure is so easy. I have an onboard compressor setup. - dawzieExplorer
