- ib516Explorer IIThey used a WD hitch because they are SPONSORED by that hitch manufacturer. Nothing wrong with that mind you, but that's likely the reason.
- 2001400exExplorerRight. And supposedly the hitch is mounted closer to the wheels which allows for no WD.
- 1jeepExplorer IIyes and I thought the same, what is the purpose of a receiver with a 3" opening if not for capacity.
- 2001400exExplorerAnyone else notice that they used a WD hitch in the video? I thought the new SD didn't need a WD hitch?

Car & Driver just tested a 2017 2500 with the Duramax. They sure liked the power, ride and fuel economy of this truck versus the 2017 F250 they tested. They didn't tow anything with these trucks but interesting to read their conclusions. I now drive a 2016 F250 Lariat with the Powerstroke and have ordered a 2017 King Ranch. Will be interesting to to compare these two trucks. Talked to a 2017 Powerstroke owner yesterday and he said compared to his 2015 model he can feel more power empty but can't tell any difference when pulling his 12,000 pound loaded flat deck around.

All the BS about new frame and alum body and how it would change the payload and towing capability. Yet this truck is rated to carry only about 100 lbs than my previous 2011 f250. also they can rate it to tow a million pound trailer it still cant carry the tongue or pin weight!
Sometimes people tow trailers that aren't RVs. It's pretty easy to adjust a load on a utility trailer to take you up to the max tow weight without exceeding the carrying capacity of the truck.
I believe the point was that since these trucks are getting so capable, that using a high profile RV would make them work harder...Possibly making them unable to exceed the speed limit.
It isn't all about weight. Wind resistance can be an important factor. - wompsExplorerCar & Driver just tested a 2017 2500 with the Duramax. - 4x4ordExplorer IIII'm starting to see the new Super Duty's populating the roads around here and it's getting me wishing I had waited a few months when I bought my '16. As much as I like the look of the new Ford the price tag and crappy fuel economy are what could potentially cause me to look at a Ram.
- RedwoodcamperExplorerReally nice trucks. I'm a ram fan but the Ford is a nice place to be. It's strange to me how Ford didn't improve the engine more. It's almost a decade newer than most of the Cummins engine, but not noticeably better In the real world. I keep waiting for them to make something easier to work on and they keep failing.
