2017 F-350 4X4 CC PSD DRW XLT Options Help

This thread is primarily aimed at folks who have bought a 2017 SuperDuty to haul their truck camper. We plan on ordering a 2017 (or possibly a 2018) F-350 4X4 Crew Cab PSD DRW XLT. We will likely be hauling our 1996 Lance 9’ 10” Legend 500 for a while and then buy a new Lance 1062 early next year. We will normally be towing a 7,000 lb car hauler.

What I’m looking for are suggestions on options that you got and have worked out. Or options you didn’t get and wish you had. Any other suggestions on tie downs or whatever would be appreciated.

Some of the areas I need help in are:
Factory sprayed bed vs LineX
Rear camera options (bed and tail gate)
Wiring for truck to camper
Wiring for truck to trailer
Factory receiver hitch vs Torklift (we will probably go with Torklift tie downs)
Seats (we want separate front seats with the console in between)
Anything else you care to mention

Any help is appreciated,
Brad

  • I just sold my Lance to a friend with a 2016 Super Duty 350 SRW with the tow package on it.

He had the TL front mounts installed but we found out the Ford Factory Class 5 receiver hitch has a square tube carrier that's just right to mount tie-down extensions so thats what we did. We mounted the rear tie downs (made them up from square tubing with welded bolsters on the ends) and attachment points for the back tie down's. Worked slick. I welded an 'eye' on each inboard of the fender well and he runs a chain and turnbuckle between the two, to keep them in place. Saved him the cost of the rear tie down's.

FYI, some Super Duty's have the DEF tank mounted real close to the drivers side frame rail so have a qualified installer install the front tie down's. No room to get it done in your driveway.... without lots of cussing...lol

His 'tow' package came with double plugs on the rear for an extra harness and a plug in the bed as well. Pretty slick set up. His is a 4 door with the console and buckets in the front and a split bench in the back.

He had the Ford Plastic bedliner, which we left in and laid in a sheet of 3/4" marine grade plywood. He's has no issues so far.

Nice truck, Being retired, I cannot afford one.
