That's definitely impressive! The Ram will certainly be slower because the inline 6 will not build RPM's as quickly but I'll bet the Duramax gives it a run for it's money.
LOL,
I wonder what happen with this inline 6 with your theory? Just an old 12 valve with mechanical injection. Seems to RPM pretty good too me? :B
When are people going to get over this whole inline V8 thing? Doesn't matter is the engine is an inline, V8, pancake; it doesn't matter what shape it's in. I like a lot of people can make HP with any shape. The shape just doesn't matter!
Since I'm on a roll a lot of people don't have a clue on how to make power with a diesel. It's like this: To make power with a diesel you need fuel. Lots and lots and lots of fuel. That fuel makes
SMOKE! Lots and lots and lots of smoke. And no; smoke is not unburned fuel. If it was unburned fuel you would see liquid coming out of the pipe instead of smoke. Much like nitromethane, even though you see "partially burned fuel" coming out of the pipe it's still making power.
You get to a point where no matter how much air you add to the engine you will still have smoke. The truck above is a friend of mine's and he is putting 140+ LBS of boost into the engine. Even with all that air it's still pretty smoky.
And for all you nits out there that say you can make power without so much smoke. They don't do it by cutting down on the fuel. (Remember you need lots and lots and lots of fuel to make power) Yes; you diminish the smoke a bit by adding propane and nitrous oxide injection. This is a pretty impractical way of making power while towing an RV though! :B
Personally I like 0 to 60 times. It shows how much power is actually getting to the ground. Not some bogus number that manufactures write down on paper to look good. 0 to 60 is sort of like keeping fake news out of vehicles! :B
